How Are You Doing? A Question Worth Asking

We ask it all the time. “How are you doing?” It rolls off the tongue at the coffee shop, in the hallway, at the start of every meeting. And most of the time, we answer without thinking. “Good, you?” ๐Ÿ™‚

But here’s a small challenge for today: what if we actually meant it?

There’s real power in slowing down long enough to check in โ€” with the people around us, and with ourselves. Life moves fast. Notifications pile up, to-do lists grow, and somewhere in the rush we forget to pause and take our own temperature.

So let me ask you, honestly: how are you doing?

Not the automatic answer. The real one. Are you tired? Excited about something? Carrying a bit more than usual? Feeling good and just cruising along? All of those are valid, and all of them deserve a moment of your attention.

Checking in doesn’t require a grand gesture. It can be as simple as:

Taking three deep breaths before you open your laptop. ๐ŸŒฟ
Texting a friend just to see how their week is going.
Writing down one thing you’re grateful for today.
Giving yourself permission to rest when you need it.

The same goes for the people in your corner. A genuine “how are you doing?” โ€” followed by real listening โ€” can make someone’s entire day. You never know what’s going on beneath the surface.

So consider this your reminder. Take a breath. Check in. Be kind, especially to yourself.

And truly โ€” how are you doing today? Drop a comment below and let me know. I’d love to hear. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Take care of yourself. You’re doing better than you think. โœจ
